Revisit: VCR Cafe, Jalan Galloway

21:21

I'm someone who loves excitement, challenges and new things. I get bored easily and always strive to learn new things. I always believe since we can improve and be better each day, why return to the past. Same goes to my choices of cafe. I rarely revisit coffee places unless it was really bomb! Today, i'll be writing about this very photogenic and popular cafe among the social media groups. I first tried out this place a year ago, when it was still fresh and kitchen was not opened yet. Today, i am returning to VCR Cafe, to try out their picturesque breakfast menu and coffee of course. Check out my last visit here~

Situated in the busy hub of Pudu, VCR is also surrounded by skyscraper office and parking can be very difficult. (legally of course). I would suggest you to park behind the shop, in the narrow alley which is harder to locate, which means safer from the officers. Look our for a huge greyish-black corner lot building and there you should be able to see VCR.

VCR is taking up two storeys in this building. You can make your order at the counter, pay and proceed to seating on either floors. However, i have to recommend the first floor, as you can tell from the amazing lighting and nature we got to admire upstairs. Not to mention, it is more spacious and comfortable as well. Our food choices of the day was VCR's Big Breakfast, Turkish Style Eggs, Lemon Curd Cheesecake and a cup of Cappucino.

VCR's Big Breakfast--RM 34
House made stew beans, chicken chipolata, grilled tomatoes, mushroom, 2 free range eggs in any style on sourdough, with beef bacon or turkey ham.

Look at the bouncy eggs!
Turkish Style Eggs--RM 26
Rich tomato sauce with chickpeas, chicken chipolata, spinach greek yogurt, toasted pistachio with a slice of sourdough toast and 63 degree Celsius free range eggs.
Lemon Curd Cheesecake--RM 12

Cappuccino--RM 11

Food of the day
Honestly, i was pretty disappointed by the mains i received that day. Firstly, the Turkish Style Eggs was bland, under-seasoned and portion was small. All the components did not seemed to work together harmoniously. I find that chickpea is really odd in this item and could be reduced. Big breakfast was too ordinary to be excited about, not to mention the sky high pricing! Lemon Curd Cheesecake was two extreme. On the first time it seemed to be too sour and until the end when we reached the soggy biscuit base it was too sweet. Execution of dishes needs improvement. I couldn't complain about the coffee, probably the best thing that happened to me that day.

Nevertheless, we still be able to enjoy the natural ambiance and have a photogenic product for Instagram. Negative comments aside, i just wanna highlight that the standard of restaurant usually varies with timing and person-in-charged. My disappointed visit might be a pleasant experience for you. However, i hope that restaurant personnel could run the extra mile in making sure that their product is consistent and pleasant for customers all the time. Have a pleasant weekend ahead! xoxo
